Hi Kathy,

Yup -- we definitely need another committee to study that one...

Only 2000yrs of thinking already done there -- not like we're reinventing the wheel or anything...

It's so typical though -- as soon as the church becomes all about being good, then the relationship with God She is teaching becomes all about performing tasks.

It never was God who wanted to use us -- that's the other guy's plan. He wanted a bride and a lover -- not a slave.

It's interesting, Cal, that some churches idea of "outreach" is the Alpha program.

Our church is proposing to add yet another committee or board called a "vision" team to determine:

"1. Who God is calling us to be.
2. What God is calling us to do.
3. Who is our neighbor.
4. How is the Spirit currently moving among us and what gifts has God given us (see 1 Cor. 12:18)."

Is it really that difficult? Do we "the church" need all these committees and subcommittees?

Love others as Christ loves you - isn't that about it?

Hi Kathy,

It always amazes me how a branch of Christendom that seriously believes Jesus wants you to mimic the life He lived (In some countries going so far as to even crucify themselves) can't seem to find it in their theology to go and hang out with the drunks and the hookers like Jesus did.

Somehow, it's with the people who Jesus hung out with the most that we seem to most strongly feel the need to keep ourselves separate from the world...

Yep -- it's as if we might "catch something" from those pesky non-Christians! Like reality and relevance.
